Number learning and activities for kids

Numbers form the foundation for early math concepts. When teaching numbers to preschoolers, hands-on activities, counting games, and visual aids can make the learning process enjoyable and effective.
A number is an abstract entity used to represent quantity, order, or position. Numbers can be classified into various types including natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, and real numbers.



Teaching numbers to preschoolers can be fun and interactive. Here are some engaging ways to help them learn:

Counting Games:

Use everyday objects to count, such as toys, fingers, fruits, etc. Make it a game by counting together with your preschooler.


Number Flashcards:

Create flashcards with numbers and corresponding illustrations. Associate each number with a visual representation. Shuffle them and ask your preschooler to match number with its illustration.

Number Songs:

Sing counting songs. Help you kids repeat these math counting so, that they can learn numbers very easily and repeat it many times a day.

Counting Fingers:

Teach them to associate each finger with a number. Count together by pointing to fingers.

Number Hunt:

Hide numbered cards or objects around the room. Let the child find and identify the numbers.


Number Puzzles:

Introduce simple number puzzles where the child matches numerals with corresponding pieces.

Number Tracing:

Allow them to trace numbers using their fingers, on paper, or in sensory materials like sand or rice.
