Shapes

Basic shapes are fundamental in early childhood education and are often used as building blocks for more complex concepts. Shapes can be tought to kids through various activities and hands-on experiences to make learning enjoyable for preschoolers. Shape is the base of math. It is essential for 
pre learners to learn. 

Here are some basic shapes:
  • Circle
  • Square
  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Pentagon
  • Heart
  • Oval
  • Octagon
  • Hexagon
  • Star

Heart:

  • A shape with a rounded top and a V-shaped bottom.
  • I has one corner
  • It can not roll.











Circle:

  • A round shape with no corners or edges.
  • It can roll.
  • It has one flat face.


 Square:

  • A shape with four equal sides and four right angles.
  • It has 4 corners.
  • It cannot roll.
  • It has one flat face.

Rectangle

  • A shape with four sides and corners where opposite sides are equal in length and all angles are right angles. It cannot roll.

Shapes Activity



Teaching shapes to preschoolers can be engaging! Here are some creative ways to help them learn:

Shape Sorting:

Provide various objects or cutouts of shapes and have the child sort them into the correct shape category.

Shape Hunt:

You can explore your house or go outside for this activity. Look around, find and name different shapes in everyday objects.

Shape Art:

Create different projects using shapes. For example, make a collage using square, circle or rectangle pieces of paper or draw fruits, vegtables and many other thing using shapes.

Playdough Shapes:

Use playdough to mold different shapes. You can use cookie cutters, bottle lid to create shapes.

Shape Puzzles:

Introduce simple shape puzzles where the child matches the pieces to create a whole shape. Have cutout of paper with different colors and help your kid join them to make specific shape.
