Shapes

The shape is the thing that kid learn first:

When a toddler starts learning we show them different objects. All those are nothing but the shapes. First of all, we show them a fan or a light which are shapes. Everything in our room or house is the shape. A table, glass or even mobile phone which kids love to use are all shapes.

Shapes are scattered all around us. We can see a circle, square, rectangle everywhere. When we show our toddler a moon or sun its a shape. Door and window of your room is the shape.

Why learning shapes are necessary:

As we know that everything around us is a different shape so, its the first thing which our toddler has to learn. In the start, there are four basic shapes which we make our toddler learn. These are the circle, square, rectangle and a triangle.

Download these tracing shapes charts and help your toddler trace them again and again to be perfect in shapes.

Help your toddler learn these basic shapes form all around him. When he had a BIRTHDAY the hat he wears is a triangle, his cake would be round or square, his packed gifts are in circle, square or rectangle.

In this way not only he will learn the basic shapes but will have too much fun indeed!

Writing starts from shape:

When our toddler grows to the age when he starts writing, he starts writing with the shape.

  •  He draws lines (verticle, horizontal, or diagonal) they are shapes. By joining two diagonal and a verticle line in the centre it makes a letter "A", one verticle line with 3 or 2 horizontal lines it makes letter "E" or "F".
  • Then we help him draw a circle which is the base of small letters. Circle makes letter o, zero. When he put a line on the left of the circle downwards it makes "9".
  • When he makes a triangle and erase the uppermost line it makes letter "v" and when he put verticle line in the centre it makes "Y".
There are many more writing hacks which a toddler only do when he can draw basic shapes. Shapes help him learning writing, recognizing different objects and sorting the objects according to their shape.

The chart has basic shapes to help him learn shapes very quickly. There are other activities below which will help him learning shapes. Help him trace different shapes and then by himself to learn more with fun.

Show your toddler some simple images to help him learn different shapes. Don't show him shapes on a book as it is the old way of learning. In this era, our toddlers learn more easily in different ways.

Here is a small artwork in which there are many shapes. Toddler will love the simple scenery which is made with shapes.
In this image, there is a rectangle, circle, triangle.
Encourage your toddler to draw this by himself.

Make learning fun.

Shapes activity

When my daughter learnt shapes and their names them I created this simple shapes chart with paper for matching.

First of all I asked her:
What shape is this?
What is the colour of this shape?
Find the shapes like these around you.
